Day 01 Arrive Chennai. Drive to Kanchipuram and Mamallapuram (141 kms)

Your South India Tours will start from Chennai. After arriving here, you will drive to Mahabalipuram to visit Kanchipuram enroute. Being the ancient capital of the Pallavas, it was the ‘town of temples’. The sight-seeing will take you through some temples including Siva temple from the 7th century, Ekambareswara temple, Sri Kailasanathar Temple from the 8th century, the Sri Vardaraja Perumal Temple, the Sri Kamakshiamman Temple and a lot more. If you love to wear Kanchipuram silk and saris, it would be the paradise for you. After visiting Kanchipuram, you will be taken to Mamallapuram. Spend the night here.

Day 02 Mahabalipuram

In the morning, you will visit Mamallapuram also familiar as Mahabalipuram or Mamallapattana. Along with a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as a historic town and seaport, this place is also known by the ancient mariners as the city of "Seven Pagodas". Your tour to this place will take you to the ancient cave temples cut in the rocks depicting various incidents from Hindu mythology, legends, and epics. The city was developed and the temples were built during the reign of Narasimhavarman. Here you will witness the largest Bas-relief in the world. Out of a single rock, the five-chariots are carved. Another wonder that you will witness here is the twin structure of the Shore temple. Spend the leisure hours of the afternoon by strolling on the beach. Overnight is in Mamallapuram.

Day 03 Mahabalipuram to Puducherry by road (96 kms)

Today, you will drive to Puducherry, also acquainted as Pondy or Pondicherry, a beautiful city with colonial influence. In 1674, it was acquired by French and has colonial churches, buildings, statues, temples and many more. The well planned French style avenues offer a colonial ambiance. Along with the well-preserved colonial buildings, you can also witness Paradise Beach, Promenade Beach, Auroville Beach, and Serenity Beach and other well-known beaches of Puducherry.

In the afternoon, you will visit Pondicherry, which is divided into the French Quarters "Ville Blanche" and the Indian quarter "Ville Noire". Sri Aurobindo Ashram is internationally popular. Auroville is a universal town where people of all nationalities live together in accord and peace. The Lord Ganesha Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple is a Hindu Temple. Overnight is in Puducherry.

Day 04 Puducherry to Thanjavur by road (171 kms)

Now, you will be travel by road from Puducherry to Thanjavur, another name of Tanjore, the capital of the Chola dynasty and the land of Tanjore paintings and Bharatanatyam, the famous form of classical dance.

The Brihadeeswara Shiva Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site was built by King Raja Raja Chola in the 11th century AD and is capped by a monolithic cupola. The walls are enclosed with paintings from the Chola as well as Nayak periods. Other places to visit are the Thanjavur Maratha Palace constructed by the rulers of Thanjavur, the Saraswati Mahal Library and the Raja Raja Chola art gallery with a huge collection of stone and bronze idols. Overnight is in Thanjavur.

Day 05 Thanjavur to Tiruchirapalli Thanjavur (118 kms)

Today, you will enjoy Tiruchirapalli, the geographic centre of Tamil Nadu. Also familiar as Trichy, it was the citadel for the Cholas and is an eminent city, known for its scholars of Tamil. The holiness of the city will soothe your soul. South India Travel Package will take you to some of the famous churches and temples including Danish Church, Rock Fort and the temple of Lord Shiva. This fort has witnessed fierce battles and is said to play an important role at the time of Carnatic wars. You will spend the night here.

Day 06 Thanjavur to Chettinad by road

Today morning you will be transferred to Chettinad region from Thanjavur. During your leisure time, you will visit the Chettinad villages that are known for its aromatic and spicy cuisine. Next, you will visit the Chettinad mansions. The fixtures were imported from East Asian countries and Europe. Your next destinations would be Vairavan Kovil, Karpaga Vinayakar, Kundrakudi Murugan, Kandanur Sivan and other temples. Spend the night here.

Day 07 Chettinad to Madurai by road

Now, you will drive from Chettinad to Madurai. Spend the rest of the day in Madurai, the oldest living cities on the world. Here, people celebrate different festivals with pomp and the popular one of them is the annual 10 days Chittirai festival. You will also visit Gandhi Memorial Museum, previously known as Rani Mangamma's palace. Being one of the ‘New Seven wonders of the World’, Meenakshi Temple will be on the list of nominees.

Day 08 Madurai

Your morning tour of Madurai will include different temples and palace including Meenakshi Temple, Tirumala Nayak Palace, Alagar Hills and Tirupara Kundran Rock temple. The Meenakshi Temple, a temple of Lord Siva and his wife Meenakshi and one of the largest and oldest complexes in India, was built 2000 years ago and was expanded by Thirumalai Nayak. When you touch the pillars of the temple, it will produce musical features. Built by the king Thirumalai Nayak, Thirumalai Nayak Palace is famous for its domes and arches. Afternoon is at leisure. Overnight is in Madurai.

Day 09 Madurai to Kodaikanal by road (116 kms)

Today, you will be driven from Madurai to Kodaikanal, known as "Princess of Hill stations". Kodaikanal, a misty hill station is situated 120kms northwest of Madurai. The word ‘Kodaikanal’ means "The Gift of the Forest" and this place is famous for its meadows, grasslands, cascading streams, waterfalls and gardens. Kodaikanal Lake is a manmade lake where you can hire horses, boats, as well as bicycles. Here, you can also visit religious places like Church of South India, St. Peters Church, La Salette, Lutheran Mission, Union Church, Durgai Amman Kovil, Kurinji Andavar Kovil, Mariamman Kovil, Ellis Villa, and Munjikal. Spend the night here.

Day 10 Kodaikanal

You will visit Bryant Park, a beautiful botanical garden with a large species of trees, cactuses, shrubs, and hundreds of varieties of roses. To witness a taxidermy collection of more than five hundred species of birds, animals, and insects, and a good collection of live exotic orchid species, you will come to Shembaganur Museum of Natural History. Next, you will visit Green Valley View, Dolphin's Nose, Silver Cascade, Bear Shola Falls, and Pillar Rocks. Overnight is in Kodaikanal.

Day 11 Kodaikanal to Munnar by road (161 kms)

Today, you will drive from Kodaikanal to Munnar, the largest tea-growing region in South India carpeted in emerald-green tea plantations and sculpted like ornamental hedges. Here, you will see the highest peak in South India, named Anamudi. Diverse wild life sanctuaries in Munar, shelter the grizzled giant squirrel, gaur, elephant, Nilgiri langur, Sambar, and many more.

Atukkad Waterfalls, a very beautiful waterfall is set amidst hills and jungles. Chithirapuram is famous for its tea plantations. Floriculture Centre is a garden with diverse species of flower and herbal plants. Top Station gives you stunning views of the Western Ghats. At the Tata Tea Museum, you will be taken to a place where you will learn where the tea is processed. Overnight is in Munnar.

Day 12 Munnar to Kochi by road (125 kms)

Today, your journey will start from Munnar to Kochi. Earlier familiar as Cochin, it is referred as the Queen of Arabian Sea. Anywhere else in India, you will not find such an intriguing mix: giant fishing nets from China, ancient mosques, a 400-year-old synagogue, Portuguese houses as well as the crumbling remains of the British Raj. The Arabs, British, Portuguese, Dutch, all have left their impression on the history of Kochi and after Mumbai, it is probably the second most important city on the west coast of India. During the afternoon, you will be taken to some of the renowned spots including mosques and temples, Portuguese churches, along with the Jewish synagogue. Next, you will visit a place to watch the Chinese style fishing nets which are mostly seen in Kerala. A group of six fishermen operate the fishing-net. Spend the night here.

Day 13 Kochi to Kozhikode by train

To board your train for Kozhikode, you will be transferred to Kochi rail-station. After arriving here, you will be transferred to the hotel. Earlier familiar as Calicut, Kozhikode means "fortified palace". As it was a major trading point for spices like black pepper, cardamom, and many more, it was called the "City of Spices". The Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama arrived in Calicut in 1948 and opened a trade route. This place is also familiar for its historic temples as well as churches. Overnight is in Kozhikode.

Day 14 Kozhikode to Wayanad (87 kms)

Your morning tour will take you to Kappad. Next, you will be taken to Pazhassirajah Museum, with paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, Dolphin's Point and the Science Planetarium. And later you will visit Wayanad, earlier familiar as Mayakshetra. The name comes from a combination of Vayal "paddy field" and Naad "land". Consists of three taluks - Vythiri, Mananthavady and Sulthan Bathery, Wayanad is a home to tribes like Paniyas, Adiyars, Kurumas, Ooralis, Kurichyas, Kattunaikkans, and many more living in thatched roof, mud, bamboo, and brick houses. Spend the night here.

Day 15 Wayanad

Encompassing part of an isolated forest reserve that spills into Tamil Nadu as well as Karnataka, Wayanad’s landscape combines rice paddies of ludicrous green, mountain scenery, skinny betel nut trees, red earth, spiky ginger fields, bamboo, and rubber, cardamom and coffee plantations. Green forests and coffee plantations cover a huge area. This place is also familiar for species like vanilla, tea, pepper, cardamom and many others. To spend the night, choose one of the beautiful resorts with modern amenities.

Day 16 Wayanad to Mysore by road (120 kms)

Today, you will be driven to Mysore. This afternoon city tour will take you to the palace of Mysore that was built by the Maharaja of Mysore in the year 1911-1912. Here you will notice a harmonious synthesis of the Hindu and Saracenic styles of architecture. Next, you will visit the art gallery and drive to the Chamundi hill to visit the Chamundeshwari Temple. When you return to Mysore, visit the Nandi bull. During afternoon, you could visit the Krishnarajasagar dam and the Brindavan Gardens. Mysore is the ideal place for purchasing the famous "Mysore silk". Overnight is in Mysore

Day 17 Mysore to Hassan by road (136 kms)

Today, you will be transferred from Mysore to Sravanbelgola, an imperative pilgrimage centre for the Jains. The Gommateshvara Bahubali statue is the famous pilgrimage spot for the Jains. This huge statue is bathed in every 12 years with honey and milk. Thousands of worshippers from all over the world come here. After the visit of Sravanbelgola, you will proceed to Hassan where you have time at leisure. Overnight is in Hassan.

Day 18 Hassan to Halebid and Belur to Hassan

Your full day excursion will take to the beautiful ancient temples. Being the capital of Hoysala Empire, it has one of the finest instances of Hoysala architecture - the Chennakesava Vishnu Temple that was built by king Vishnuvardhana to celebrate the victory over the Cholas. It took more than one hundred year to complete the entire temple. In front of the Hoysaleshawara and Kedareshwara temples there is a big lake, named Dwara Samudhra that means entrance of the ocean and the city derives its name from this lake. The spectacular view of the Jain temples will mesmerize you. Spend the night here.

Day 19 Hassan to Hospet by road (309 kms)

This morning you will drive from Hassan to Hospet from where you could take an excursion to visit Hampi. Spend the afternoon to stroll around Hospet, the former capital of the Vijayanagar Empire. Located within the ruins of Vijayanagar, Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The beautiful ruins make the city an amazing tourist spot. From Hospet, you can also visit the Tungabhadra Dam. Overnight is in Hospet.

Day 20 Hospet to Hampi Hospet

Today morning, you will spend for Hampi sight-seeing. The ruins to visit here are the Virupaksha temple, Hazara Rama temple complex the elephant stables, the Queen's Bath, Vittala temple, Ramachandra temple and Lotus Mahal. The Virupaksha Temple houses erotica statues of Bhuvaneshwari and Pampa. Other places to visit here are the Hazara Rama Temple Complex, the Vittala Temple Complex and many more. Spend the night in Hospet.

Day 21 Hospet to Badami (161 kms)

Today, you will drive from Hospet to Badami. Enroute, you will visit Aihole as well as Pattadakal. Aihole, a prominent city of the Chalukya Dynasty is the cradle of stone temple architecture of the Dravida School and has more than one hundred temples, divided into groups. The prominent groups are the Kontigudi and the Galaganatha group of temples. And Jyothirlinga Group has two temples which are flat roofed.

Pattadakal a World Heritage site was a great centre of Chalukyan art and is familiar for its temples and inscriptions. The famous temples that you will visit here include Virupaksha, Galganatha temple, Sangameshwara Temple, Chandrashekhara temple, Mallikarjuna and Kasivisvanatha temples, Kadasiddhesvara and Jambulingeswara temples, and many more. Badami, the capital of Chalukyas is known for its red sandstone cave temples. Cave temple 1 has a hall with many pillars and paintings of Shiva and Parvati and Nataraja. In Cave temple 2 Vishnu is shown with one foot on Earth and the other on the sky. The Cave temple 3 shows the culture and clothing of the 6th century while the Cave temple 4 shows a carving of the Jain Tirthankara Parshavnatha. If you get time, you will also visit Badami fort and the Malegitti-Shivalaya. Overnight is in Badami.

Day 22 Badami to Goa (255 kms)

This morning you will travel from Badami to Goa airport. Goa is familiar for its beautiful beaches and clean blue water. The largest city of Goa is Vasco-da Gama and Panjim is the capital. Here, you will visit Ancestral Goa Museum, Fort Aguada, Chapora Fort, The Secretariat, Baga Beach, Anjuna Beach, Candolim Beach and several other beaches of Goa and the religious places. Popular churches to visit here are the St Cathedral, Church of St Francis of Assisi, St Cajetan Church, Church of Lady of Rosary and Nunnery of St. Monica and many more. Although people from all over the world in every season come here, winter is the ideal time to come here.
