Day 01 Arrive Kolkata

Upon your arrival in Kolkata, you will be escorted to your hotel. Your sightseeing in Kolkata will begin in the afternoon. You will be taken to the most significant Jain Temple that is dedicated to the 23rd Jain Tirthankara, Parshvanath. You can explore the complex that consists of four temples. The deity of Lord Sitalnathji with his diamond-studded forehead is a significant attraction among the tourists. You will later be taken to the Victoria Memorial where you can take a tour of the Museum and Art Gallery and have a look at the manuscripts, paintings, and other objects of historical significance. However, make sure not to visit the place on Mondays and other National Holidays. You will be driven around the Howrah Bridge, Fort Williams, Dalhousie Square, Old Court House Street, and Secretariat Building. You will have the opportunity to witness the rich heritage of the Dalhousie Square. You can also see other magnificent monuments of the Raj-era like the General Post Office, the Town Hall, the majestic Raj Bhawan, the Gothic Style Writer’s Building, and the St. John’s Church. Day 02 Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri overnight train

You have a free morning on the second day of your Sikkim Tour Package from Kolkata. However, you have the option of visiting the St. Paul’s Cathedral Church, Marble Palace, and Kumartuli. At the Kumartuli village, you might have the chance to see the beautiful idols and images made by the local artisans. You can go to the old art gallery at the Marble Palace; however, make sure to not visit the place on Mondays, Thursdays, and on National Holidays. At the St. Paul’s Cathedral Church, you will be awed at the beautiful scriptural scenes of the interior of the church. The western windows and the gold-gilt plate are major attractions at this place. Day 03 Drive New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling (71 km)

Upon your arrival at New Jakpaigrui, you will be driven to Darjeeling, where you will be taken to your hotel. There is a lot to explore in Darjeeling. With its everlasting wonderfulness and rich green tea gardens, Darjeeling would present itself to you as the perfect holiday destination. The picturesque beauty and flawless components of nature would fill your tour with the excellence that you have been looking for in your trip. You can take a stroll to the nearby monasteries that would give you a glimpse of the Lepcha culture. If you are a nature lover, you would truly fall in love with this place. There are numerous places that you can visit during your stay at Darjeeling, and you will see the nature in its most enchanting form at this place. You will spend the rest of your day at leisure, enjoying the scenic beauty. You will stay in your hotel at Darjeeling for the night, and continue exploring the area the following day.

Day 04 Darjeeling

You will resume your Sikkim Tour Package from Kolkata and begin exploring Darjeeling early in the morning. You will be taken to Tiger Hill and the Ghoom Monastery. At the Tiger Hill, you will get the chance to witness the beautiful sunrise and Kanchenjunga. If you are lucky, you might get the chance to see the horizon change its colors before the dawn, and the mountains turn golden. However, this is possible only if there are no clouds. On your way back to your hotel, you will be taken to the Ghoom Monastery.

Once back at the hotel, you will have your breakfast. After you have had your breakfast, you will be taken to the Tukvar Tea Estate. You will be charmed by the lavish tea gardens in this hilly region. Here you will get the chance to witness the different steps involved in the manufacturing of tea at the Tukvar Tea Estate.

The afternoon tour of Darjeeling will include visits to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park. However, do not visit the Park on Thursdays, since it remains closed. At the Mountaineering Institute, you will see the equipment used by Tenzing Norgay. The visit to the Himalayan Zoological Park will give you the chance to see the Snow Leopard, Tibetan Wolf, Himalayan Black Bear, Tibetan Yak, and different varieties of birds. Also, a visit to the Refugee Centre will allow you to see the Tibetan handicrafts preserved by the Tibetan refugees. The Refugee Centre remains closed on Sundays, so plan your trip accordingly. Here you can also observe the making of the Paintings, wooden work, leather work, and Tibetan carpets. You will then return to your hotel where you will spend the night.

Day 05 Drive Darjeeling to Pemayangtse/Pelling (74 km)

In the morning you will be driven to Pemayangtse from Darjeeling. The ambiance of this place will mesmerize you. You can feast your eyes on the snow-capped and lush green valleys and mountains with thick forest cover. In the afternoon you will visit the Pemayangtse Monastery. You can have a fantastic view of the Kanchendzonga range from this place. You can also enjoy the outstanding sculptures, ancient scrolls, and paintings that depict the statues of all the eight incarnations of Padmasambhava. You will be driven back to your hotel where you will rest for the night, and pick on your journey the next morning

Day 06 Drive Pemayangtse to Gangtok (117 km)

You will resume your journey in the morning and taken to Gangtok from Pemayangtse, via road. Here you will witness an amalgamation of the different cultures of the Nepalese, Lepcha, and Bhutia. Here you will see the manifestation of Buddhist learnings and culture in the numerous monasteries located in the vicinity of the place. You will spend the rest of the day planning your trip. You can take the car and explore the nearby areas. Also, the local cuisines can be worth a try if you are out exploring the place. You will spend the night at your hotel, and prepare for the next day’s programme.

Day 07 Gangtok

If it isn’t a Sunday, you will start your day by visiting the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, since it remains closed on Sundays. You will also be taken to the Do Drul Chorten Rumtek Monastery. Apart from the Tibetology, the surrounding of oak, birch, and ash provide a beautiful view. You can take a look at the vast collection of rare books and manuscripts on Mahayana Buddhism. You will see two giant statues of Lord Buddha and Guru Padmasambhava. You will be later taken to the Karma Nalanda Institute of Buddhist Studies. After such a long day of sightseeing, you can take the afternoon off and give yourself some rest. You will stay overnight at your hotel in Gangtok.

Day 08 Gangtok

Your morning would start with a visit to the Tashi Viewpoint, which will give you a beautiful view of the Kanchendzonga. You will spend the rest of your day exploring this place. In the afternoon, you will visit the Enchey Monastery which is perched on a ridge above Gangtok. Covered with lush woods, it provides a spectacular view of the Gangtok town. From here you will be visiting the Directorate of handloom and handicrafts. You can observe the beautiful hand-woven carpets and handlooms, intricate bamboo work, and wooden friezes carved exquisitely, which are put here on exhibition. You will spend the night at your hotel.

Day 09 Drive Gangtok to New Jalpaiguri (120 km), overnight train to Kolkata

Today your tour of Sikkim would come to an end. You will be driven to New Jalpaiguri rail-station from Gangtok, in time so that you don’t miss your Kolkata night train. You can enjoy the scenery during your train journey. You will spend the night on board.

Day 10 Kolkata

Once you arrive in Kolkata, you will be taken to your hotel, where you will have a free day. You can visit the local markets and try the indigenous dishes. You can consider visiting the Mother Teresa’s Mission. Other than that, you can visit the museums and temples that Kolkata is home to, including many other places of interest. Also, you must try different sweets made of milk and cheese for which the city has earned a lot of fame. You can retire to your hotel room and prepare for your return journey, scheduled for the next day.

Day 11 Departure

Today marks the end of your Sikkim Tour Package from Kolkata. In the morning you will be taken to the Kolkata airport for your return flight.
