Welcome to India, you are at Guwahati – the largest city in the state of Assam and the second-largest metropolitan area in eastern India after Kolkata. You will be received by our representative at the airport or the railway station, who would transfer you to your hotel for check-in.

Freshen up and have your lunch, post which you will be taken out to visit Bashistha-Ashram, and Kalakhetra (SrimantaSankaradevKalakshetra).

Bashistha-Ashram or Bashistha temple is a Lord Shiva mandir constructed by Ahom King RajeswarSingha in 1764 which he built and gifted over 200 acres of land for the ashram complex. The history of the Basishtha Ashram dates back to the Vedic age. Legends say that the ashram is the home of famous sage Basishtha and stands on the outskirts of Garbhanga reserve forest on the bank of the mountain streams originating from the hills of Meghalaya. The Garbhanga reserve forest is the home to numerous elephants and is a proposed butterfly reserve.

SrimantaSankaradevKalakshetra or commonly Kalakhetra is a cultural institution formed after SrimantaSankardev, the medieval poet-playwright and reformer. There are several places of interest inside the Kalakhetra –a cultural museum, library, a children’s park and various facilities for preserving, demonstrating and performing cultural items.

Come back to the hotel for overnight stay in Guwahati.

Have your breakfast and head off towards Tezpur by road. This day is at leisure or at your own to explore nature at Tezpur. Located on the north bank of Brahmaputra, Tezpur is a beautiful city with major attractions that includes rich history, old temples, forests and wildlife.

However, the nature is blessed with the beauty of stretched tea plantations in the undulating stretch along with Forests and National Parks making it among the most beautiful places in this region. You may take a stroll along the nature or go for local markets to try their delicacies and to pick some souvenirs.

Overnight stay at Tezpur.

After your breakfast, we will drive you to Dirang by road. It would take almost the entire day, stretching a tiring 6 hours non-stop and a bit more if taken halts. You will have lunch on the way. Reach Dirang and stay overnight there itself.

After breakfast, you will be driven to Tawang via Sela Pass. This is world’s second highest motor-able road, and is an ultimate experience for the nature and adventure lovers.

Sela Pass is a high-altitude mountain pass located on the border of Arunachal Pradesh state. Located at an elevation of 4170 m (13,700 ft), the pass is the main road that connects Tawang with the rest of India. You will be stunned to see the snow-clad areas of the pass that supports scarce vegetation and remains in snow throughout the year. Located near the summit of the pass, Sela Lake is one of the 101 lakes within the area that Tibetan Buddhism considers sacred.

Reach Tawang and check-in to your hotel for overnight stay.

Get ready to explore the city of Tawang after breakfast. You will be taken to Madhuri Lake and Bum La border.

Madhuri Lake is known as SangestarTso Lake and is located near Indo-China border above 15,200 ft above sea level. The lake was created by falling rocks, boulders and trees in an earthquake and is the perfect place for those who prefer wilderness amid rough nature and cold temperature. The SangestarTso Lake was renamed unofficially as Madhuri Lake after the Indian bollywood actor Madhuri Dixit. The lake is mostly covered in snow throughout the year and is the pass from where Dalai Lama entered India while escaping from Tibet.

The Bum La Border or Bum La Pass is located about 37 km from Tawang above more than 15,000 ft above sea level near Indo-China border. This is one of the most historical routes for witnessing the fiercest battle that took place in the 1962 Sino-Indian War. Also, the People’s Liberation Army of China invaded India during the War through this route.

Once you have visited these place, come back to the hotel for overnight stay at Tawang.

You will be taken for a local sightseeing in the town of Tawang and the main tourist attraction is the Tawang Monastery. It is the largest monastery in India and the second largest in the world – Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet being the largest one.

Also called Gaden Namgyal Lhatse (celestial paradise in a clear night), Tawang Monastery was founded by Merak Lama Lodre Gyatso in 1680-1681. The monastery has three storeys within a huge complex which is enclosed by a 925 feet long compound wall. There are 65 residential buildings within the complex. There are several valuable old scriptures, including Kangyur and Tengyur, in the library of the monastery.

Overnight at Tawang hotel.

Have your breakfast and get started for your journey to Bomdila, via Sela Pass. The stipulated time to cross the route is approximately 6 hours or so, but since the road condition often gets affected by weather and other factors, it might get stretched to 8 hours. Especially with breaks for lunch and refreshment halts, it might stretch further.

Overnight at Bomdila.

Time to descend down further, as you will be driven to Guwahati from Bomdila. Since the distance is pretty long, you will start early, latest by 7 am. Reach Guwahati and check-in to your hotel for overnight stay.

This day, you would be departing for your return or outbound journey. Before that, you will be taken to visit the famous Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Kamakhya and is considered as one of the 51 Shakti Pithas. The temple complex is divided into four chambers - garbhagriha and three mandapas (calanta), pancharatna and natamandira ascending from east to west.

Once you have visited the temple, you will be driven down to the railways station or the airport for your return journey.
