Day 01 Arrival at Dimapur airport and later drive to Kohima

Once you arrive at Dimapur Airport, you travel to Kohima. As the capital of Nagaland, Kohima is located at 1500 meter above sea level and is a hill station. Check in to the hotel for an overnight stay in Kohima.

Day 02 Visit the Hornbill Festival in Kohima

After breakfast at the hotel, you get to see the Hornbill Festival in Kohima. There is an overnight stay in Kohima again.

Day 03 Visit the Hornbill Festival or travel to Khonoma Village

If interested, you can again visit the hornbill festival or visit the famous Khonoma village.

After having breakfast, there is a visit to the Khonoma Village, which is known for its valor against the Britishers, for their attack on the Naga Hills. After lunch, we see the famous war cemetery that holds a special significance in the minds of all, due to the effort of the martyrs during WWII. After getting back to Kohima, there is an overnight stay there.

Day 04 Travel from Kohima to Mokokchung

We travel to Mokokchung from Kohima after having breakfast. Located 1400 meters above sea level, the town is famous for the Ao Naga tribes, who show off their colorful dances by wearing red coloured shawl around their waist. They also wear bands around their hand, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil. The Ao Naga people settled here first after they came from chungliymti. Then there is an overnight stay at the hotel in Mokokchung.

Day 05 Travel from Mokokchung to Jorhat

Located around 6 hours from Mokokchung, we will travel to Jorhat, which is in Assam after having breakfast. We will also see Alibi village on the way. Check in at the hotel on arrival and the rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight is in Jorhat.

Day 06 Visit Jorhat to Majuli

After having breakfast, you need to travel to Neemati ghat. From here there is the ferry ride to Majuli.

Majuli-

Known to be one of the biggest river islands, Majuli is well known for its historical and cultural significance. As the legend goes, Srimata Sankaardeva is said to have stayed on this island and hence, this place is said to be a place that glorifies the Vaishnava culture. The place is full of cultural manifestations and houses various sorts of migratory birds as well as the famous pelican and the Siberian crane. The place is also unique for its traditional elements like handicrafts, pottery items, etc.

On visiting Majuli, there are other places as well like the Kamalabari Satra, the mask making center and the audio at Satra. You can also enjoy Gayon Bayon, which is the local dance out here. There is an overnight stay in Majuli.

Day 07 Travel from Majuli to Kaziranga

After having breakfast at Majuli, the next stop is Kaziranga, which is famously known for its one-horned rhino and other species of elephants as birds as well. After checking in at the hotel, there is a jeep safari ride in the evening. There is an overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 08 Tour Kaziranga National Park

Early in the morning, there is the elephant ride inside the park, and you can spot elephants, rhinos and other animals there. You can also take note of birds like pelicans, storks, and other migratory birds as well. The variety of flora and fauna is so huge in the park, and there is an equal opportunity in seeing the avian and the mammalians very close. Then we head for breakfast at the resort. Then after lunch, you can go for jeep safari. There is an overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Day 09 Visit Shillong from Kaziranga

Drive to Shillong is about 270 kms and we will visit the Umiam Lake in the middle of the journey. After check-in at the hotel in Shillong, you get to visit the archery ground and the Police Bazaar, where lots of traditional and electronic items are available. There is an overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 10 Travel to David Scott Trail and then back to Shillong

After having breakfast in Shillong, we go to David Scott Trail for trekking. It is near Mawphlang.

David Scott Trail

One of the oldest trekking trails since the British times, the David Scott Trail is named after the British officer of the same name. This route was found by him after he was travelling from Assam to Bangladesh. The earlier distance of the route was 100 kms and took five hours to complete the entire path.

You can take a packed lunch in the trek, as the current path from Mawlana and lad Mawlana. The entire route surrounds the Khasi hills, and the total route is now 16 km, taking about 5 hours to cover. There is natural beauty throughout, with lush green meadows and complete mesmerizing valleys, with small villages here and there.

We then come back to Shillong. A visit to the Don Bosco Museum and afterwards there is an overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 11 Travel Mawllynong from Shillong

After having breakfast at the hotel, we travel to Mawllynong. There is the live footbridge located here, known by the name of JingkeingDeingiri. The bridge is around 100 years old. We then drive to the India Bangladesh border and then return back to Shillong. There is an overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 12 Travel to Guwahati from Shillong
