Drive from Chandigarh or Delhi to Shimla

Arrive at Chandigarh or Delhi railway station / airport. At the railway station/ airport, you will meet our tour representative who will brief you about your upcoming tour. From there our driver will drive you to Shimla (2180 metres above the sea level). Once you reach Shimla, you will head to the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Enjoy a warm dinner and spend the night comfortably in your room.

Arrive at Saharan after a 7 hours drive from Shimla via Kufri and other places

After breakfast, you will drive from Shimla to Sarahan (2165 metres above sea level). On the way to Sarahan, you will drive through the foothills of Himalayas by visiting some beautiful places like Kufri, Theog, Fagu, Narkanda and Rampur. Later reach Sarahan and check into the hotel. Saharan is known for its 800 year old Bhimkali Temple, which also happens to be one of the 51 Shakti Peethams of India and an exemplary display of North Indian Himalayan architecture. You will attend the evening aarti at the temple after enjoying a breathtaking view of the Srikhan Mahadev Peak from Saharan. Overnight at Saharan.

Stay for morning aarti at Bhimkali Temple, Saharan and then drive to Sangla

Get ready in the morning to witness the early morning aarti at Bhimkali Temple. It is one of the most spiritual experiences you will have on this tour. Later during the day check out of the hotel and meet our representative who will guide you through the drive to Sangla via Karcham. Also visit the famous Baspa valley which is said to be the prettiest valley in Himachal. Then reach Sangla (2744 metres above sea level) and check in to the hotel booked there. Rest day is at leisure to enjoy the scenic beauty of Himalayas. The night stay is planned at Sangla.

Go on a day’s excursion to Chitkul

Get ready to visit the ancient Kamru Fort and Temple after you enjoy your delicious breakfast. Kamru is the ancient capital of the Bashahr Principate and the temple is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya Devi who was brought from Assam. The fort here is known for its brilliant architecture and its famous wooden balcony. Later, explore other sightseeing places around the area. Then you will go for an excursion to Chitkul. This city is a remnant of the ancient prosperity of the Indo-Tibet-China trade route, and happens to be the last village along the route that still stands. Chitkul’s natural landscape possesses beautiful green orchards, ripe with harvest in season and a sparkling stream that passes by. Later in the evening, return to your hotel in Sangla and spend a peaceful night there.

Drive to Kalpa and enjoy local sightseeing

Today, after your breakfast you will check out from your hotel and will head toward Kalpa, the district headquarter of Kinnaur. The hill station, formerly known as Chiniis situated 2670 metres above the sea level and has seen little to no change in the last five centuries. It was once the favourite getaway of Lord Dalhousie, thanks to the serene natural beauty of the place. According to legends, when Lord Dalhousie wanted to take a break from his hectic schedule in Shimla, he would come here riding on his horse for a quick retreat. A main tourist attraction is a 79 feet high rock formation that resembles a Shivlinga that changes its colour as the day passes. After visiting these places, rest in hotel for a while. Later in the evening, visit the Buddhist Gompa, Hu Bu LanKar. This monastery is said to be established by the famous Buddhist translator, Rinchen Zangpo, about a millennium ago. Return to the hotel and enjoy a good night’s sleep at Kalpa.

Drive from Kalpa to Tabo via Nako

Get up early in the morning to witness the beautiful sunrise over the Kinnaur-Kailash Peaks. The sunrise is worth skipping your early morning sleep under the blankets. After that you will be driven to the village of Tabo. The ancient village of Tabo is situated on the left bank of the river Spiti. It is the land of one of the most famous Buddhist monasteries, regarded next to the Tholong Gompa in Tibet. It is also known as the ‘Ajanta of Himalayas’. EnrouteTabo, visit Kinnaur’s most picturesque hamlet, Nako and the Nako Lake. Nako is a village rich in heritage, built around a small and serene lake, and has an important Buddhist Gompa and a small temple. Here you will find an impression resembling a footprint, which is beliebed to be of Saint Guru Padmasambhava, the most revered Buddhist deity in Tibetan Buddhism. Before reaching Tabo, you have a chance of witnessing the untouched, virgin beauty of the Spiti Valley. As Rudyard Kipling once correctly described, Spiti is “the place where the God lives”. Reach at Tabo and check in to the hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure in this Himachal tribal tour.

Go from Tabo to Kaza and see Dhankar Gompa on your way

Get ready early in the morning to join the morning prayers at the Tabo Monastery. This monastery, which was constructed in 996 AD, is a complex consisting of 9 temples, 23 Chortens, a monk’s chamber and an extended portion which is the nun’s chambers. There are a number of caves atop the monastery enclave which are used by the monks as prayer rooms. If you take your time to look around, there are many scriptures, pieces of art and wall paintings to be explored here. There is also a modern Gompa and a painting school founded by the Dalai Lama.

Later in the day, check out of the hotel in Tabo and start for Kaza (3870 metres above sea level). On your way to Kaza, the current capital of Spiti village, visit Dhankar Gompa, the old capital of Spiti. This hilltop fort here used to be a prison once, now it houses more than 160 lamas. The major tourist attractions at Dhankar Gompa include a statue of Vairochana (Dhayan Buddha) consisting of 4 figures seated back to back. There are also many ancient Thangkas here, which are on the verge of crumbling down. Arrive at Kaza later in the evening and check in to the hotel. A comfortable overnight stay is prepared for you at the Kaza hotel.

A day’s excursion to Ki Monastery and Kibber

It is time for Kaza sightseeing. Today you will head towards Ki Monastery. Key Monastery is situated on the left bank of river Spiti. It is the biggest Gelupa Sect Monastery in Spiti. The monastery is a post 13th century construction and is a three-storey structure consisting of storage rooms at the bottom level. The middle floor houses Dukhang or the Assembly Hall. The uppermost floor has another temple on one side and Lama’s quarters on the other side of an open terrace. The greatest tourist attraction there is the collection of ‘Thangkas’ which were saved and preserved from the devastating 19th century raids of the Dogars and the Sikhs. The monastery is famous for its antiquity, reflected by its collection of ancient books and murals. Hundreds of young lamas still take their religious training here – and you might be lucky enough to witness a class in session. Then you will go for a scenic drive to the pasture country of Kibber, where green pastures extend for hundreds of kilometres. Return back to your Kaza hotel for an overnight stay.

Drive from Kaza to Manali

Check out of the hotel in Kaza because today you will be driven to Manali via Kunzumla Pass which is 4590 metres above sea level. Enjoy brilliant scenic beauty on the way. On arrival in Manali (3340 metres above sea level), check in to the hotel. The rest day is at leisure for you to walk in the Himalayas.You can also go for simple shopping in the local market or take rest and prepare yourself for the next day. Overnight is in Manali.

Go out for local sightseeing in Manali

Manali is home for many beautiful natural sights. There are many parks in Manali, like Van Vihar Park which are the perfect venue to spend a day. There are facilities like boating and water rafting in the gushing streams that flow through. Click as many pictures as you want and enjoy the sight seeing to the fullest. Manali also has the famous Manu Temple,Hidimba Devi Temple and HimlayaNyingmapa Buddhist Monastery. Later after the sight seeing, return to the hotel and rest. Enjoy an exciting excursion to Rohtang Pass

Today you will proceed for full day excursion to Rohtang Pass. The excursion includes visiting Kothi, Gulaba Fall and Marhi on your way up to the Pass. This is one of the highest Himalayan passes, located on the eastern PirPanjal Range around 51km from Manali. This pass connects Kully Valley with the Lahaul and Spiti Valleys and was an important part of the Himalayan trade route. However, excursion to Rohtang Pass is always a bit dependable on the weather conditions, mostly snowfall. Overnight is in Manali.
