Golden Triangle Tour overview

The Gujarat Tour Package of 10 nights and 11 days is mainly aimed to cover the most prominent places of Gujarat so that the entire state is covered in the tour package. There are diversified spots to explore which includes the ancient heritage, traditional practices, wildlife as well as modernized and rural city life. The trip begins at Ahmedabad and moves through Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Dwarka, Lothal, SasanGir, Bhuj and Diu to name a few.

Day 01 Arrival at Ahmedabad

Welcome to Ahmedabad, India. Get welcomed by our representative who would take you to Hotel Kanak for check-in and other formalities.

Ahmedabad is the largest city of Gujarat and is located at the banks of the Sabarmati River. The modern city has been selected as one of the hundred smart cities under Government of India's flagship Smart Cities Mission. On the other hand, the Historic City of Ahmadabad is declared as India's first UNESCO World Heritage City.

The 600 years old city of Ahmedabad (1411 A.D) has some of the finest Indian-Islamic monuments and exquisite Hindu and Jain temples. Its carved wooden houses are another unique architectural tradition. Worth checking out is the nature of its rich and varied architecture, its art, religious places, its culture and traditions.

You may spend the day at leisure or you may go out for half day sightseeing (extra cost).

Day 02 Ahmedabad – Full day city sightseeing

Post breakfast, head off for a full day tour of Ahmedabad and its twin city Gandhinagar.

Start with The Heritage Walk arranged by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation to travel by the planned old city comprising numerous pols, self-contained neighborhoods, sheltering large numbers of peoples. Some of these virtually small villages, traversed by narrow streets, usually terminating in square with community wells and chabutaras for feeding birds, gates, Cul-de-sacs and secret passages. To experience the glory of Ahmedabad, tourists are taken for this walk through an old quarter to observe the nature of its architecture, its art, religious places, its culture and traditions.

SidiSaiyyed Mosque and Swaminarayan Temple are the other two spots to visit before heading towards Gandhinagar in afternoon. SidiSaiyyed Mosque is one of the most famous mosques of Ahmedabad and was built by SidiSaiyyid in the retinue of Bilal Jhajar Khan.The mosque is entirely arcaded and is known for its ten intricately carved stone latticework windows (jalis) on the side and rear arches.

Swaminarayan Temple is the first temple of the SwaminarayanSampraday, a Hindu sect. With its architecture based on Burma teak wood, every colored arch and bracket is a bright different shade, something that stands out. The temple resembles a fairytale with all its colors and opulent carvings that profusely embellish every wooden bracket, column and arch.

In the afternoon, you will be driven to Gandhinagar for Akshardham Temples. Akshardham is a large Hindu temple complex inspired by Yogijimaharaj the fourth spiritual successor of Lord Swaminarayan. The complex was built over 13 years and is a tribute to Lord Swaminarayan and his life and teachings. At the center of the 23-acre complex is the AkshardhamTemple, which is built from 6,000 metric tons of pink sandstone from Rajasthan.

On the way back, visit AdalajStepwell. It is a step well located in the village of Adalaj, which was built in 1498 in the memory of Rana Veer Singh (the Vaghela dynasty of Dandai Des), by his wife Queen Rudadevi. It is a fine example of Indian architecture work.

Return to hotel and stay overnight at Ahmedabad.

Day 03 Ahmedabad to Bhavnagar (250 km/ 6 hours drive)

This day at around 7.30 am, start towards Bhavnagar by road. On the way, visit Lothal which is located along the Bhogava River a tributary of Sabarmati, in the Gulf of Khambat. The place is at the archaeological remains of the Harappa port-town and has two primary zones – the upper and the lower town. Measuring about 7 HA, Lothal’s thick (12-21 meter) peripheral walls were designed to withstand the repeated tidal flood, which probably resulted in the bringing the city to an end.

After visiting Lothal, proceed to Bhavnagar, a historical city. Sites of interest for tourists are Takhteshwar Temple built in white marble, Gaurishankar Lake, Victoria Park and Ganga Deri which is a miniature of TajMahal constructed entirely in marble. In the evening, you will be taken to the museum and then to the local market.

Day 04 Bhavnagar to Diu via Palitana (60 km + 200 km)

Have your breakfast early, or get it packed as you will start at 6.00 am to Diu on this day. On the way, you will be taken to Palitana to visit the Shatrunjaya Hill, 2000 ft near Palitana town.

The Palitana temples are located on Shatrunjaya hill and the entire site is considered sacred by Svetambara Jains. There are approximately 863 marble-carved temples on the hills spread mostly in nine clusters, some being vast temple complexes, while most small in size. The main temple is reached by stepping up 3500 steps (doli-lift chairs are also available, at extra cost) and is dedicated to Rishabhanatha, the first Tirthankara. It is the holiest shrine for the SvetambaraMurtipujaka sect. The constructions date back from the 11th to 20th century.

After lunch, get transferred to Diu by road and reach by evening. After check-in at hotel, spend leisure time at the beach or enjoy the beach activities.

Day 05 Diu – Full day beach activities

Enjoy the pristine beach sides of Diu and get indulged in different beach activities.

The day visit to Diu is scheduled for a spectacular city sightseeing. You will be amused to see that with no tall buildings except the fort, Diu has a characteristically low skyline. Old Diu is known for its Portuguese architecture. Diu Fort was built in 1535 and maintained an active garrison until 1960. The Diu fort is the most visited landmark in the district, which is built on a hillock next to the sea.

There are three Portugese Baroque churches - St Paul’s Church (completed in 1610, being the only one in use for its original purpose), The Church of St Francis of Assisi (first church built in Diu in 1593, now used as a hospital and St Thomas Church (used as a museum).

Day 06 Diu to Gir to Rajkot (120 km + 160 km)

Have breakfast and start your journey towards SasanGir by road at 5:30 am. Arrive at the Sasan Girl Lion Sanctuary at 7.30 am and set off for game view (Jeep safari/optional – payable directly).

Gir National Park is a forest and wildlife sanctuary, established in 1965 and is fully protected as national park. The Gir ecosystem with its diverse flora and fauna is protected as a result of the efforts of the government forest department, wildlife activists and NGOs.

After lunch, get driven to Rajkot and visit Junagadh on the way which is located at the foot of the Girnar hills. Junagadh is famously known for the 2300 year old Uperkot Fort, Edicts of Ashoka which have inscription from the Buddhist era and the famous known architecture called the MohabatkaMakbara.

Reach Rajkot by the evening and check-in at hotel for overnight stay.

Day 07 Rajkot to Bhuj (280 km)

Your breakfast will be served, after which you will be driven to Bhuj. Bhuj was founded by RaoHamir in 1510 and was made the capital of Kutch by RaoKhengarji I in 1549. The city's walls were built by RaoGodji I in 1723,and the Bhujiya Fort by Devkaran Seth in RaoDeshalji I's time (1718 - 1741).

Main places of interest includes The Fort – The old city was surrounded by a fort wall with five major gates (Mahadev, Patvadi, Sarpat, Bhid and Vaniyavad) and one small gate known as Chhathi Bari (sixth window). The fort wall is 35 feet high and four feet thick, and during its use was armed with fifty-one guns. Other places to visit are the Hamirsar Lake, PragMahal, ArinaMahal, Kutch Museum and Tapkeshwari Temple to name a few.

Day 08 Bhuj– full day visit to the Banni Villages

Have your breakfast in the hotel and get ready for a full day visit to the Banni Village known for its culture, handicrafts and textiles. Each of the villages has a distinct style of community that resides in the village - Rabari, Meghwal, Harijans, Mutwa Community. These different communities are known for different types of handicrafts like embroidery, rogan art, mirror work, wood work etc.

Please note: Please note that it is mandatory for all foreign clients to obtain the permit to visit the Banny village. Also, note that DSP/Collector’s office is closed on the 2nd and 4th Saturday and public holidays. Hence, it is suggested that you set the tour dates accordingly.

Return to Bhuj hotel for overnight stay.

Day 09 Bhuj to Jamnagar

Have early breakfast at 5:30 am and drive to Jamnagar. Start for a city trip of Jamnagar in the afternoon. The places of interest include several temples, museums, forts, palaces along with parks, sanctuaries and gardens, and beaches and ports.

Darbargadh Palace, Lakhota Fort, Willingdon Crescent, BhujioKotho, Bhuchar Mori Shahid Van, Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary, Balachadi Beach, Marine National Park and MotaAshapuraMaa Temple are few of the places worth mentioning. You will also be taken for a visit to the tie and dye market.

Come back to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 10 Jamnagar to Dwarka (full day city sightseeing)

Get driven to Dwarka from Jamnagar. This day is dedicated to a full-day visit to different temples at Dwarka. GomtiGhat has a number of small shrines dedicated to the Samudra (God of the Sea), Saraswati and Lakshmi. Other notable temples in the ghat area include the SamudraNarayana (SangamNarayana) temple, which is at the confluence of the Gomti River with the sea, the Chakra Narayana temple where there is a stone with an imprint of a chakra as a manifestation of Vishnu, and the Gomati temple, which has an idol of the river goddess Gomati that is said to have been brought to earth by the sage Vasishta.

The Rukmini Devi Temple, dedicated to Rukmini, Krishna's chief queen, is located 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) away from Dwarka. The temple is said to be 2,500 years old, but in its present form it is estimated to belong to the 12th century. It is a richly carved temple decorated with sculptures of gods and goddesses on the exterior with the sanctum housing the main image of Rukmini. Carved naratharas (human figures) and carved gajatharas (elephants) are depicted in panels at the base of the tower.

Later, visit to Bet Dwarka or Shankhodhar – an inhabited island at mouth of Gulf of Kutch situated 3 km (2 mi) off the coast of Okha, Gujarat, India. The island is measured northwest to southeast in 13 km (8 mi) with an average 4 km (2 mi) in east-west direction. It is a strip of sand and stone situated 30 km (19 mi) north of town of Dwarka.

Come back to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 11 Jamnagar to Mumbai

This is the last day of Gujarat Tour Package. You will be transferred to Mumbai airport to board connecting or return flight.
