Day 01 Arrival at Delhi and a tour of the city

Upon your arrival in Delhi, one of our agents would take you to the hotel where you can fill up the formalities of checking in. Delhi is the capital of India and has a rich history related to it. It was the capital of the Pandavas back in the Mahabharata era. Delhi was the major city and was attacked by many countries in the history, in order to rule India. It was the capital and the main city during the Mughal dynasty. The evidence can be seen by a number of Mughal monuments in the city. From the famous Qutub Minar to the Red fort, everything as built during the reign of the Mughals. Even the cuisine in Delhi is influenced by the Mughals. Many dishes that are famous not only in Delhi but all over India were bought by Mughals. Mughals introduced spices in India.

The tour would start by visiting the Old Delhi which was built by Shah Jahan in the 1639 AD. There would be visits to the Raj Ghat where Gandhiji was cremated. There would be a sightseeing to Chandni Chowk and Red Fort on the way to Jama Masjid. The Jama Masjid is one of the most famous mosques in India and was built during the reign of Shah Jahan. After shopping in Chandni Chowk, there would be lunch in hotel.

After lunch, there would be visit to Qutub Minar which is a World heritage site as declared by UNESCO. It was built in 1192 by Turk ruler Qutub-Ud-Din Aibak and is one of the most beautiful monuments. After that, there would be a visit to the Humayun’s tomb which was built in the memory of the Mughal ruler Humayun and is one of the World heritage Site by UNESCO. There would even be a visit to the India Gate built in the memory of forgotten soldiers and after that you would be driven past the Parliament house and the government offices. After a hectic day, you would be taken back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 02 Travel from Delhi to Jaipur.

The second day of the Golden triangle tour would consist of visiting the pink city- Jaipur. The travel to Jaipur would be by train. You would be taken to your hotel in Jaipur on your arrival. The city is famous for its handcrafted objects, attire, folk music, dance and the monuments. The pink city even has its history. It was named so because when the Prince of Wales had visited Jaipur, all the buildings were painted in pink color. The city was built by Maharaja Jai Singh back during his rule and hence the name Jaipur. The city is famous for its wonderful palaces which depicts the history of the Rajput rulers. The Maharaja palace would show you the architecture of the Rajput rulers. There would also be a visit to the Jantar Mantar which is an observatory and attracts mathematicians from all over the world. One can find the three eras of the Indian history here: the Rajput, Mughals and the Europeans. The city has many such monuments which would show the mixture of these 3 eras. After lunch you would be taken to the Hawa Mahal which is not only famous for its architecture and historical significance but also due to several myths and tales related to it. After exploring Jaipur, you would be taken back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 03 Travel from Jaipur to Agra.

After breakfast, you would be taken to Agra by train from Jaipur. Agra is a famous tourist attraction and attracts lots of visitors from the country as well as from outside. It is also known as Akbarabad and was at its peak during the Mughal dynasty. Situated on the banks of river Yamuna, Agra has many such places which are breathtaking. Upon your arrival in Agra, you would be taken to the hotel for refreshments after which the tour of Agra would begin. The first stoppage would be the beautiful Taj Mahal which is one of the seven wonders in the world. A symbol of love and purity, Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his loving wife Mumtaz Mahal. The story says that the emperor had cut off the limbs of the laborers after the monument was built so that there won’t be another Taj Mahal. Built with pure white marble, Taj Mahal is situated on the banks of the river Yamuna and attracts people from all over the world. It is even said that during the last days of Shah Jahan he was kept in a room in the Agra Fort, from where he can see the beautiful Taj Mahal. The next stoppage would be the famous Agra fort which is famous for its beautiful architecture and is also on the list of World heritage site by UNESCO. Agra also has the famous Khas Mahal and the Jahangir palace. You would even be taken to the Diwan-e-Aamand and Diwan-e-Khas which was built by Akbar as a place to hold poetry sessions with the poets. After lunch, you can spend the rest of the day in sightseeing or shopping.

Day 04 Explore the beautiful city of Agra

The fourth day of the Golden tour of India would be solely consists of exploring Agra. You can spend the day in leisure. Spend the day in shopping some of amazing handicrafts from the bazars or visit some of the famous monuments in Agra. You can visit the Sikandra Bagh which has the tomb of Emperor Akbar. The construction of the Bagh was started by Akbar as he had planned it. It was finished by his son Jahangir in 1613. A little distance from the tomb of Akbar, is the tomb of his wife Mariam-uz-Zamani. The monument is built in red sandstone. The Dayal Bagh meaning the Garden of mercy is another beautiful monument which is built with pure white marble. The construction had started in 1904 and is still being done. Agra is famous for its marbles and gems.

Day 05 Travel from Agra to Gwalior.

The golden triangle tour by train starts on the fifth day of the tour. You would be taken to Gwalior by train from Agra. The story has that Prince Suraj Sen had lost his way in the jungle and met a sage called Gwalipa. The sage gave him water to drink which cured the leprosy of the prince. In return, the sage asked to build walls around the jungles in order to protect the sages from wild animals. The monuments and the city was built by the prince and was named Gwalior with respect to the name of the sage Gwalipa.

After checking in to the hotel, you would be taken for a tour of the city. Gwalior is even the birth place of the famous musician Tansen, who used to perform in the court of Akbar and was among the nine jewels of the Akbar. Every year, a music festival is conducted in the city in memory of Tansen where music lovers from all around the world arrive.

After lunch, you would be taken to the Man Mandir, the Gujari Mahal which is now a museum, the Teli ka mandir, the Sas-Bahu temple, the Jai Vilas palace which is now converted into a museum, Mausoleum of Tansen, Tomb of Gaus Mohammad and the bazars. Each temple and tourist site has its own share of history and stories. After visiting the places, you would be taken back to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Highlights: Gwalior - Visit the Man Mandir, Gujari Mahal, Teli Ka Mandir, Sas-bahu Temple, Jai Vilas Palace, Mausoleum of Tansen & Tomb of the Gaus Mohammad.

Day 06 Travel from Gwalior to Jhansi and Khajuraho

After breakfast, you would be taken to Jhandsi by train. Jhansi is known for its own legends. The fearless “Jhansi ki Rani: Lakshmibai” was the ruler of Jhansi and was known for her power and bravery which she possessed. Even the Britishers used to fear her. After arriving in Jhansi, you would be taken to Khajuraho by road. After checking in to the hotel, you can spend the day at leisure. Khajuraho is famous for its temples which were built during the reign of the Chandelas. After the rule of Chandelas was over, thee temples were forgotten. As a result, the temples were covered with dense date and palm trees. The temples were discovered by Captain T.S. Burt in the year 1838. The name Khajuraho came from the dense date and palm forests which are found here.

Day 07 Explore Khajuraho

There are many things that are a must see while in Khajuraho. There are a number of temples which you would be shown on you tour of Khajuraho. There would be visit to the Chaunset Yogini Kali temple, Bharatji or Chitragupta temple where you would see the eleven avatars of Lord Vishnu in the idol, Lakshmana temple, Mahadev temple, Nandi and Vishvanath temple, Siva’s Visha temple and the Parasvanath temple which is the only Jain temple in Khajuraho. There are other temples too which are dedicated to Lord Brahma, Lord Adinath and Yamuna. After lunch, you can spend the day in leisure by visiting more temples or by shopping in the bazars. An overnight stay in the hotel would end you tour in Khajuraho.

Day 08 Travel from Khajuraho to Varanasi

The golden triangle tour by train with Khajuraho to Varanasi starts on the eight day of the tour. You would be taken from Khajuraho to Varanasi by flight. Upon your arrival at Varanasi, you would be taken to the hotel and you can spend the rest of the day in leisure. Varanasi is also known as Benaras, Banaras or Kashi and is considered as the holiest place in India. The river Ganga flows through Varanasi which makes the place more holy. There are a number of ghats and temples in here. It is said that if a person dies in Varanasi then he/she would attain salvation. You can visit the bazars in Varanasi and try the famous Varanasi paan.

Day 09 Explore Varanasi

There are many places which should be visited in Varanasi. Among them are the famous Manikarnika and Harishchandra ghats where a person can take a holy dip. These ghats are even used for cremation purposes. Varanasi is one of the most visited places in India and is always crowded throughout the year. The evening aarti of the river Ganga in these ghats should not be missed. After the aarti, you have to take the train to Delhi.

Day 10 Back to Delhi

Upon your arrival at Delhi, you would be escorted by one of our agents to your hotel. After checking in, you can spend the rest of the day in leisure. Spend the day in shopping or visit various places. There are many places in Delhi which you can visit like the Swaminarayan Akshardham which is the largest temple and is built by Rajasthani pink sandstone and Italian marble. In this temple complex, there are statues of Swaminarayan, Sita Ram, Radha Krishna, Shiva Parvati and Lakshmi Narayan. The main temple was built according to the Vastu and Pancharata shastra. The temples has cravings of many things such as flora and fauna, the history and may more. It has 234 pillars, 9 domes and 20,000 idols of sages and gods and 148 elephants. The Yagnapurush Kund is a well and a musical fountain as well. You can even take a short boat ride which would show you the rich history of India.

Day 11 Departure

After breakfast, you would be escorted to the airport or the station by our agent for your travel back to home.
