A relaxing vacation amidst the beautiful flora and fauna of the various locales in Gujarat, like the Diu Island, sounds heavenly, especially if you are a fan of adventure and nature. Housing several National Parks and bird sanctuaries, Gujarat is home to the only National Park, Sasan Gir National Park, where the majestic Asiatic Lions reside. Not only the possibility of actually seeing one of them is exciting, but what makes it better is the sighting of various other animals and birds like hyenas, blackbucks, pelicans, flamingoes, and so many more.

Diu is a coastal town at the eastern end of the Diu Island, it is connected to the state of Gujarat by a bridge. Known for its Portuguese history, Diu Fort, and St Paul’s Church, among other places, this small town is the first attraction in the itinerary. It is barely an hour away from the famous Sasan Gir National Park, which is another attraction that you will witness, and explore. With its rich wildlife and beautiful trees, it is one of the most visited National Parks.

Moving on from Gir, your next destination will be Velavadar National Park, another place rich with wildlife. This place was established almost half a century back, and is also called the Blackbuck National Park, due to the abundance of blackbucks here. This visit will be followed by the house of over two hundred and ten species of birds, the Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary. It also is the abode to the endangered Asiatic Wild Asses as well as the blackbucks, among other mammalian species.

The final destination will be Ahmedabad, the largest city of India, which will comprise of a full day tour of the city. With Gandhi Ashram on the western banks of Sabarmati river that runs through the center of Ahmedabad, this historically rich city will embark the best ending to your trip.

Day 01 Arrive Diu

The first day of your journey commences with arrival at Diu airport. You will be received by our representative at airport and will be taken to your hotel.

Day 02 Diu Island

Your arrival in India takes place, through the outward flight, and you reach Diu. You will be straightaway taken to your hotel, where you can relax and wear off the jet lag. You will be able to explore the nearby beach, where you could take a walk or intermingle with the locals, who usually enjoy their evening having picnics in the sand. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 03 Diu Island - Sasan Gir National Park

Starting the day with a scrumptious breakfast, you will take a glimpse at the beauty the Old Diu Town withholds. This includes the Portuguese Fort, which dates back to the year 1535, the famous baroque St. Paul’s church, as well as the well-known market square. This will be followed by a ride to Gir, which would take anywhere near to around three and four hours. Overnight stay at the National Park to recreate and rejuvenate.

Day 04 Sasan Gir National Park

After a healthy breakfast you will drive to Sasan Gir National Park. You will enjoy both morning and afternoon private drives in the place. Sasan National Park is only remaining National Park that inhabits the majestic Asiatic Lions, so keep an eye out for those. With a well-protected population, which is also thriving, there is a pretty good likelihood of spotting one of these lions. Overnight stay at the National Park.

Day 05 Sasan Gir National Park

This day will again comprise of beautiful sightings through safaris in the National Park. These private drives will allow you to detect and spot even more species of animals, including cobras, golden jackals, jungle cats, striped hyenas, palm civets, sloth bears and even mongoose. Apart from these, you will also get to see plenty of birds, so keep an eye out for those too. Overnight stay at the lodge in the National Park.

Day 06 Sasan Gir National Park - Velavadar National Park

After an impeccable exploration of the Sasan Gir, you will once again commence your journey towards the Velavadar National Park. This journey will take about five hours, and will include a stop at Palitana. Palitana is known for its various temples, which you will get to visit. On arrival to the Velavadar, you will be checked in and given accommodation within the National Park, which is a diverse landscape of saline plains, mud flats, grasslands, and shrub lands. Overnight stay at Velavadar.

Day 07 Velavadar National Park

Like Gir, you will have both morning and afternoon safaris, with some time to relax in between them, at the lodge. During the safari, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for animals including wolves, hyenas and blackbucks. A day full of adventure, for sure. Overnight stay at the Velavadar National Park.

Day 08 Velavadar National Park - Dasada

On the eighth day of your trip, you will be taken to Dasada, the route of which will be through Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary. Another beautiful place to look at and discover, you can take a glimpse as numerous species of birds, domestic and migratory, including flamingoes and pelicans. Even more so, you can take a walk with an expert naturalist along and around the few lakes present there. Overnight stay at the hotel in Dasada.

Day 09 Dasada

After the day of arrival, you will once again go on adventure filled safaris, where, if you are lucky enough, you will be able to track down and spot the wild Asiatic asses. These private game drives will be followed by a drive around the infamous Little Rann of Kutch. The Little Rann of Kutch is one of the largest salt marshes in the world, and therefore included in the itinerary. Overnight stay at the hotel in Dasada.

Day 10 Dasada – Patan - Ahmedabad

After Dasada, you will embark your journey towards Ahmedabad, via Patan. The reason for stopping en route in Patan will be to one of the India’s best stepwells that has been preserved and attracts several tourists. You will also get to see the Modhera Sun temple that is intricately architecture, and a sight to look at. Once you arrive in Ahmedabad, you will be checked in into your hotel, where you can stay in and relax, and enjoy at the hotel’s pool or the spa, or you can venture out and check out the neighboring streets. Overnight stay at the hotel in Ahmedabad.

Day 11 Ahmedabad

After a heavy breakfast, to give you stamina for the day ahead, you will head out to explore the city of Ahmedabad. With a full day city tour planned, along with your guide, you will get to witness the several beauties in the city, including the old city and the historic quarter. Moreover, you will visit the Calico Museum of Textile, which is considered the best textile museum in the world. Apart from the various displays related to the textile industry, it also includes several noteworthy paintings and sculptures, courtesy of local artists. Overnight stay at the hotel in Ahmedabad.

Day 12 Departure Ahmedabad

After a successful trip to the several remarkable destinations, on the twelfth day you will be escorted and driven to the Ahmedabad Airport, where you will board the international return flight to your home.
