Christmas and new year India tour

Welcome to Delhi, India. You will be received by the tour representative at the airport. He will escort you to the pre-decided hotel. You can spend the day as per your wishes. Overnight stay is in Delhi.

After having breakfast in the hotel, you will start Delhi tour. Firstly, you will visit Qutub Minar, which is India’s largest minaret and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Turk ruler, Qutub-ud-Din Aibak constructed it in 1192. Then, you will visit the India Gate, which is a war memorial, built in the memory of deceased soldiers. Later, you will be driven past the Parliament House, President’s House, and other Government Secretarial Buildings. You will also visit Lakshmi Narayan Temple, which is a huge temple complex dedicated to Lord Narayan and Goddess Lakshmi. Later, you will be dropped at the hotel, where you will have an overnight stay.

The day will be dedicated to the tour of Old Delhi, which was built in 1639 AD by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. You will visit the Raj Ghat, the cremation site of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation. You will pass through the Red Fort and enjoy a rickshaw ride in the narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, which is an old and famous market. It is a shopper’s paradise as here tourists can buy a variety of products such as jewelry, handicrafts, clothes, etc. One can also taste delicious local delicacies in the market. You will also pay a visit to Jama Masjid, which is one of the largest mosques in India. Overnight stay is scheduled in Delhi.

You will start the day with a visit to the Bahá’í Temple. The temple is shaped like a lotus flower and is quite popular for its architectural design. The temple is open to all, irrespective of religion or any other feature. The Bahá’í laws state that the House of Worship is a gathering place of all religions without any kind of differentiation. The laws also mention that the holy scriptures of any religion can be read and chanted inside the temple premises. However, no rituals and ceremonies are practiced in the temple. The environment of the temple is graced by complete silence.

In the afternoon, you will have a half-day tour of Akshardham Temple, which means the divine abode of God. It is believed to be an eternal place of purity, peace, and devotion. It is a huge temple complex in New Delhi, which is aimed at spreading the message of harmony and learning. The atmosphere of the complex is characterized by devotional traditions, spiritual messages, and ancient architecture. The temple is built as a dedication to Lord Swaminarayan (1781 – 1830) and the other sages and deities of Hinduism. The temple features as many as 200 idols. The temple is carved out of sandstone and marble. A visit to this holy shrine in Delhi is a one-of-its-kind experience.

You will check-out from the hotel and leave for Agra by road. In the afternoon, you will visit the Taj Mahal. It is a huge mausoleum, located on the southern bank of Yamuna River and is built of ivory-white marble. The Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (reigned from 1628 to 1658) built it in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

The construction of the mausoleum took more than 20 years and got completed in 1643. As many as 20,000 artisans were employed to build the mausoleum under the guidance of the chief architect to the emperor, Ustad Ahmad Lahauri.

The Taj Mahal was designated the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 for being "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage". It is often seen as the best work of Mughal architecture and a symbol of love.

Overnight stay is in Agra.

After having breakfast, you will check-out from the hotel. You will be transferred to Delhi airport to catch a flight for the further journey.
