India is known as one of the major center of Buddhism; it is the birthplace of Gautama Buddha. It has several spiritual destinations where devotees and explorers can come and take a deeper look at the life and teachings of Buddha, as well as Buddhism culture.

You will begin your journey from Lucknow, the capital of the largest state in India, Uttar Pradesh. It is known for its Mughal era vibes. Be it the Rumi Darwaza or Ambedkar Memorial Park; you will not run out of things to do. Moreover, the delicious delicacies like the kebabs are something that you can't miss, and would not be able to resist. Gautama Buddha Park is an excellent stop to make and get some relaxation.

Shrawasti is a district in Uttar Pradesh, known for its close association with the life of Gautama Buddha. It is believed that he spent twenty-four Chaturmases here. It also is the home to various ancient stupas, grandiose viharas, and many temples. These are all present near the village of Sahet Mahet, and therefore ascertain the connection of Shrawasti with Buddha. Places like Anathapindika Stupa and Angulimala Stupa are some of the great attractions in Shrawasti, followed by the Jetavana Gardens that is a sacred Buddhist place. It is said that Gautama Buddha performed the Tirthika heretics in these very gardens. Ananda Bodhi tree is a must-visit as well!

Lumbini is an essential spot for Buddhists and Buddhism enthusiasts as it is the birthplace of Gautama Buddha. Located in Nepal, Lumbini is where the Queen Mahamayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama in 563 BCE, who later grew up to become the famous Gautama Buddha. The Pillars of Ashoka are a very famous tourist attraction in Lumbini. So are Maya Devi Temple and Myanmar Golden Temple, as well as the Shanti Stupa. Lumbini Museum gives you an insight into the locale and everything that would interest you.

Kushinagar is known as the land of Lord Buddha and is a pilgrimage town in Uttar Pradesh. As it is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site, this place is believed to be the exact area where Gautama Buddha attained Parinirvana after his passing away. The Parinirvana Stupa is one of the greatest tourist attractions and a significant Buddha Temple in Kushinagar. The Matha Kuar Shrine and Ramabhar Stupa are essential sites for the devotees as well as tourists as well. The Archeological Site at Kushinagar is also an excellent place for those who have a knack for archeology and history.

Sarnath is located barely ten kilometers from Varanasi, or Banaras, and another one of the important Buddhist sites. Near the convergence of the Ganga River and Varuna River in Uttar Pradesh, the Deer Park in the locale is said to be where Gautama Buddha first taught the concept of Dharma, and where the Buddhist Sangha came into subsistence via the illumination of Kondanna. The Buddha statue is the highlight of the place, along with Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Shri Digamber Jain Temple. Dhashashwamedh Ghat is an essential site for religious ceremonies on the riverside steps and another popular place in Sarnath.

Located in the Gaya district of Bihar, Bodh Gaya is the house to the pilgrimage associated with the Mahabodhi Temple Complex, which is an ancient brick temple. Here Gautama Buddha is believed to attain enlightenment beneath the famous and sacred Bodhi Tree. There are six other holy sites in Bodh Gaya, which include a renowned lotus pond too.
