Day 01 Arrival in Kolkata

Reach Kolkata, the City of Joy welcomes you. On your arrival in the city, get received by our representative who would transfer you to your hotel. Kolkata is an important commercial and cultural point in East India and is famous for several religious, art and literature, colonial as well as modern education, science and entertainment hub for its wide spectrum in the respective fields.

Overnight in Kolkata.

Day 02 Kolkata/Kalna

Have your breakfast, and get transferred to the ship where lunch will be served on board. Begin your journey with an upstream sail. The regions covered are those where various European settlers had once established East Indian Companies, and where several remnants from 17th-19th centuries are still noticed.

Arrive at Kalna and stay overnight.

Day 03 Kalna/Matiari

Your morning begins with a rickshaw ride through the city center of Kalna. The enchanting Rajbari Temple Complex in Kalna is your first destination to visit, followed by the Nabakailas Temples and eventually the walled complex of terracotta temples, which are among the most diversified form of Bengal’s temple architecture.

Sail to Matiari for overnight stay.

Day 04 Kalna/Murshidabad

Start off early for a visit to the village of Matiari, famous for brass and copper work. The region is noted distinctly for noises of beating metal coming from the localities. Take a visit of the village, stroll in the houses and pick a souvenir or two.

Come back to the ship and continue cruising the rest of the day and overnight towards Murshidabad.

Day 05 Murshidabad

This morning, you will be horse riding to Katra Mosque, famous for its distinctive minarets from which the muezzin calls to Friday prayers. Your horse ride continues to Hazarduari Palace, the name derived from the astonishing real and false doors numbering in a total of thousand. The palace is uniquely adorned with colonial era antiques, artwork and manuscripts.

Overnight in Murshidabad.

Day 06 Murshidabad/Mayapur

Arrive at Mayapur, the headquarters of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) movement. The new temple is comparable in the size to the Vatican where you would meet the Krishna followers and take a walk through the pilgrim’s bazaar.

Overnight stay at Mayapur.

Day 07 Mayapur/Chandernagore/Kolkata

This morning, start off to sail to Chandernagore, which was established as a French colony in 1673. You will be taken for a round to explore the French colonial buildings along the promenade, including the former French governor’s residence, now a museum with a wide exhibit of items. You will be visiting the Sacred Heart Church of Chandernagore.

Come back to the ship, and continue your journey downstream to Kolkata.

Day 08 Kolkata sightseeing

Your morning begins with a panoramic tour of Kolkata to explore the heritage buildings like Writer’s Building, General Post Office, High Court, Raj Bhawan (Governor’s House), Town Hall, Council House, Treasury Building, Reserve Bank of India and Dalhousie Square. Up next to visit are the St. John’s Church and the famous Victoria Memorial Museum housing the largest collection of British colonial historical artifacts in India.

Overnight in Kolkata.

Day 09 Kolkata to Paro by flight

Your trip jumps to the second wing, as you travel to Paro from Kolkata. Our representative and driver would receive you at Paro airport to take you to the hotel. Later in the afternoon, you would visit the National Museum, RinphungDzong (Monastery/Fortress), the 7th century KichuLhakhang (temple) and DungtseLhakhang housing some ancient murals. Take a stroll along the beautiful Paro town.

Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 10 Paro – Punakha

Have your breakfast and head off to Dochula Pass (3,050m) for about 2 hours. Enroute, get a glimpse of capital Thimphu, and take a halt in between to enjoy the scenic beauty of the eastern Himalayan peaks. Descend about 1500m on drive for two hours through the semi-tropical regions of Punakha and Wangdue valley. Post lunch, visit the 17th century PunakhaDzong beautifully nestled at the confluence of Pho and Mo Chu River. Visit KhamsumYuley temple on Nyinzergang hill before coming back to Punakha for overnight.

Day 11 Drive to Thimphu

In Wangduephodrang, take a visit of the picturesque Richengang village, followed by a visit to ChimiLhakhang temple devoted to Lama DrukpaKunley. Once visited, drive to Thimphu over the spectacular Dochula Pass which takes around 3 hours. Late afternoon, you will be taken to visit the amazing TashichoDzong and the giant Buddha statue on KuenselPhodrang Ridge.

Stay overnight in Thimphu (2400 m).

Day 12 Thimphu

This full day is dedicated to explore the capital city – Thimphu. You will visit the Memorial Chorten, Takin Preserve, Zilukha nunnery, Viewpoint followed by a visit to the traditional Art School and Indigenous Hospital. On the way, stop by the Post Office for stamps or send postcards to your home. Visit the Textile Academy and Museum, the Farmer’s Market, Changlimithang Archery Ground and explore the local streets to shop for souvenirs.

Overnight in Thimpu.

Day 13 Paro (Takstang Hike)

Drive for an hour to Paro before you start hiking to the famous Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) at an altitude of 3120m/10,200ft. The views as well as the trekking route are spectacular where the magical monastery hangs on a granite cliff 1000 feet above the valley floor making it one of the most beautiful places to visit in the city.

Come back to Paro, enjoy a farewell dinner before retiring to your hotel room for overnight.

Day 14 Departure

Have your breakfast and get transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
