India is a land of festivals and colours. Here in India, you can see people celebrate festivals all around the year. Well, Rajasthan is one of my favourite places to celebrate Indian festivals. But do you know, this part of India has its own festivals?
Here in this blog, I will share my knowledge with you about some extraordinary famous festivals of this popular state of India. So if you are planning a trip to India and want to enjoy its festivities, then add this part to your itinerary and enjoy your trip to the fullest.
1. Rajasthan International Folk Festival, Jodhpur:
RIFF is a yearly art and music festival which is celebrated for the encouragement of arts and traditional folk music. It is a rare festival of Indian and foreign cultures that takes place during Sharad Purnima.
There are around 200 artists from all over the world who attend this festival, making it a must-see for music and art fans. The location of this festival is Mehrangarh Fort and Museum, Jodhpur.
2. Pushkar Camel Fair, Pushkar:
Pushkar Fair is an impressive five long days camel and livestock fair that takes place in Pushkar, Rajasthan, on the shores of the holy lake of Pushkar. It falls on Kartik Ekadashi, the Hindu festival commemorating the formation of the Pushkar Lake by Lord Brahma.
3. Teej Festival, Jaipur:
This festival commemorates two things: the beginning of the monsoon and the affection of a woman for her husband. The festival is famous for its colourful festivities in which women’s fast and apply mehndi designs on their hands, sing, dance with other women and enjoy long swing rides, tell stories, and dress up in festive attire to commemorate Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati’s union.
The markets and bazaars of Jaipur are brimmed with sweets like Malpua and Ghewar, enticing clothing, jewellery. There is a ritual in which a decorated idol of Goddess Parvati is carried through Jaipur and many devotees and tourists gather together to witness this ritual.
4. Dessert Festival, Jaisalmer:
It is a three-day festival hosted by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation in February that is an utter bonanza that celebrates the desert's delights. The scene is alive with dance and music
During this festival, you will see the life and rituals of the desert, gymnastic tricks, different competitions like longest moustache, Mr. Desert and others, turban tying and camel races, delicious food, and fascinating stalls selling handicrafts and other souvenirs will make it an unforgettable three days of your life.
This festival takes place in Sam Dunes, Jaisalmer. This place is around 42 kilometres away from Jaisalmer.
5. Brij Holi, Bharatpur:
This festival is commemorated a few days before the festival – Holi. During this period, you can see what actual Bharatpur is. You can see people wear colourful attires as well as sing colourful songs. Lord Krishna is adored during this festival, for this, the people showcase the beautiful love story of Krishna and Radha.
This festival is very popular amongst tourists across the globe.
